Letters and Diaries From Our Archives
Preserving the rural character of a community can be a challenge. Maggie Stier from the NH Preservation Alliance and Nadine Peterson from the division of Historical Resources will help us explore ways to conserve the past as well as plan for the future of our historic buildings and sites. This program will be held at the Town Hall, 54 Main St.
Tim Patterson, NH history expert, will talk about the early history of our area when Native Americans inhabited the region. Pleas note change of date to Monday, March 9.
Society members have transcribed many letters and diaries that are in our collection. These letters speak to home, family, tragedy, war, and the happenings of the day. Our own society members will do readings of some of these interesting letters and diaries that were penned by early Chichester residents.

A History of Fighting Fire
Join us for the Annual Thunder Bridge Picnic. This bridge was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. Join us for a fun evening to share food and fellowship. Pack your own picnic. Watermelon, cookies, and beverages will be provided by the Society.
Charles Yeaton, an Epsom resident and collector of NH wooden planes and tools, will speak about his collection and known tool makers. If you have a molding plane with a maker's name on it, please bring it. Charlie will also bring some examples from his own collection.
Walter Sanborn, local historian and author, will speak on the history of fire fighting. From buckets and horse-drawn pumpers to sophisticated, heat-sensing equipment, fire fighting techniques have evolved and grown over time. Come and hear Walter talk about some of these changes.

Walter is the author of History of the Chichester Volunteer Fire Department, 1936-1996. Copies are available for sale from the Society.
